Brown Rice revisited
So you are told (until you can't hear it anymore) that one of the best ways to improve most of the issues and illnesses that are associated with poor diet is to increase your fiber. With some of the obvious food choices being fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, you may think it would be easy to make the change. This person in your family doesn't like this, little Sally won't eat that, Bobby is allergic to this and Dad who is retired and is not adding anything light, fat-free or low fat is revolting against it all. Well this girl here who has a close personal relationship with food is all about simple swaps when it comes to food. My easy food swap was brown rice for white rice. It just made sense. I personally like the nutty flavor and it seems to go well in all my rice dishes (and reheats a lot better). Hey...If i'm going to have the carbs there may as well be some nutrition to it that didn't have to be added back in. What do you think? Take a moment to look at a bag or white rice verses brown rice. The white rice is so depleted of nutrients the FDA required them to put some it back in aka enriched rice. I will post some links and tell me what you think. I may be able to give you a good recipe that uses brown rice that you and the fam will love.
